The issue of teenage pregnancy has for sometime now been a subject of interest on a Nationwide level but never has its relevance been more urgent as it is now because the small girls dey preg!
Teenage pregnancy is a subject this diaspora isn’t unknown to but the current wave of pregnancy hitting our teenagers makes the issue an extremely worrying one! COVID shouldn’t be an excuse because it’s a global problem, Children are now more exposed than ever to everything which is a catalyst to pregnancy, from internet to immediate environment!
We have normalized seeing children in clubs & drinking pubs on their own at very odd times of the day, it’s commonplace especially during the weekends & it’s hard times in the country so pub owners no more care as far as these ‘youngins’ pay for drinks & what have you, The small girls dey Preg!!
It’s desperate times, we cannot be normal in our approach to unusual problems! Maybe we should start selling contraceptives to these young ones, ‘yeah adey craze’ but what can I say? The education is something they’re used to hearing & thus far, what results we’ve seen especially in the past two years has exposed either our inadequacy in educating this teenagers or our total approach that is if we have any! The small girls dey Preg!!
Let me not just shadow-box, I’m suggesting to us we consider the option of contraceptives to this young ones because the small girls dey Preg!!
