Ghana Police Service have announced the arrested of four suspected leaders of Saturday’s unrest at Jamestown.
The angry residents of the coastal community stormed the streets to register their displeasure at President Akuffo Addo’s for removing Mahamed Adjei from office as Mayor of Accra.
According to the rampaging youth, they want the former mayor renominated because he is the right person for the position considering his achievements so far.
However, a press release signed by ACP Kwesi Ofori, the Acting Director-General of Public Affairs the police indicates that organisers of Saturday’s protest have been picked up for inciting the public and causing fear and disorder in Jamestown.
The four arrested are Daniel Opare Oman, Edward Holm, Salaami Abubakari and Daniel Clottey.
“Preliminary investigations suggest the unlawful protest was in response to the widely circulated list of potential Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).”
The list is has been since released on Sunday September 19, 2021 by the Minister of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development, Dan Botwe and forwarded to the various Regional minister.
