The Member of Parliament, MP, for North Tongu, in the Volta Region, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has said that, the North Tongu Cassava Starch Factory to be completed soon is not part of President Akufo-Addo’s 1D1F project has being purported.
It would be recalled that, the government’s project tracker, which seeks to track all projects under the Akufo-Addo’s government, targeted factories being built, raising a lot of controversies about which government actually built it.
Some members in the opposition party NDC, criticized the government for including projects initiated by the Mahama’s government it its tracker.
According to Hon. Ablakwa, the North Tongu Cassava Starch Factory, is a collaboration between his office, the TIAST Group of China and a consortium of banks. “The project is not an extension of or under Akufo-Addo Government’s 1D1F.
In clarifying the projects, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa pointed that the North Tongu Cassava Starch Factory project is a 15,000 tonnes per year cassava starch processing factory.
“We can expect guaranteed market for our dynamic cassava farmers and thousands of new jobs for the youth”, he assured.
Meanwhile, the construction of the Cassava Starch has begun this year 2021, and expected to be completed next year 2022.
Many people believe that, since the project was initiated under President Akufo-Addo’s government, it should be added to the achievements of the government.
