A Pan-African Organization of Student Leaders – The League of African Development Students (LEADS Africa) has conferred its prestigious honor on Dr. Akintoye Akindele, CEO of Duport Midstream Company as “LEADS Africa’s Patriotic Personality of the Year.
According to information reaching Ghana Africa News, Dr. Akintoye Akindele is the builder of the first truly integrated Energy Park in Africa.
Dr. Akindele was honored for his strides in mitigating the Petroleum Midstream and Power Generation quagmire in the Nigeria by developing an Energy Park in Nigeria with a Modular Refinery, Gas Processing Plant, CNG plant, storage terminal and power plant.

This comes with the lofty prospects of replicating the Modular Energy Park Model across 10 key markets in Africa, within the next five years.
Speaking with Ghana Africa News, LEADS Africa’s Secretary-General – Osisiogu Osikenyi who led the Delegation of Student Leaders from across Africa posited that contemporary reality is that distributed system such Refineries and Power Plants is spiking local participation in the Global Petroleum Sectors especially in the Midstream.
“The roadmap to building an enduring Oil and Gas sector involves deliberate government policies driving the development of Robust Local Infrastructure like Refineries, Natural Gas Processing and Pipeline Construction and the encouragement of Local Participation in the Oil and Gas Industry just and Duport Midstream Company under the sterling leadership of Dr. Akintoye Akindele is doing exactly that with Duport Energy Park”, he applauds.
Mr. Osisiogu Osikenyi explained that low-cost production potential of Duport Midstream which enables the use of shared infrastructure, local content, indigenous capacity and derived economies of scale viz efficient deployment of low-cost integrated energy parks will disrupt the petroleum pricing quagmire in Africa with cost-effecting refining, monetization of Nigeria’s crude and reversal of ugly trend of importation of refined crude products.
Duport Midstream Company has 10,000-bpd Modular Refinery and Crude Distillation Unit; 1,400-bpd naphtha stabilizer; a Gas Processing facility with a capacity of up to 60 mcf [1.7 mcm] per day and a compressed natural gas (CNG) plant with a capacity of 10 mcf [283,200 cubic metres] per day; with an embedded power plant – presently 5 MW but scalable to 50 MW.
This presentation came on the sidelines of LEADS Africa’s Advocacy for Development and Self Reliance in Africa; and the Courtesy Visit to Platform Capital – Lagos also chaired by the amiable Recipient, Dr. Akintoye Akindele.
LEADS Africa also encouraged the Team of Duport Midstream Energy Park with a Corporate Mandate Award; and called on all Governments in Africa, Stakeholders and Regulators in both public and private sectors such as Iman Africa Energy Group, Department of Petroleum Resources DPR, The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), and others across Africa to continue to give their unalloyed support to the ambitious Africa’s midstream flagship critical for Self-Reliance in Africa’s Petroleum sector.
