Kumasi Asante Kotoko first pre season friendly in the UAE ended in defeat to Al Hilal United.
An own goal from from right-back Christopher Nettey settled the game between the Kotoko and the United Arab Emirates club.
Kotoko were the better side at the start of the game and nearly took the lead after Patrick Asmah’s cross failed to get the needed connection from forward Clinton Opoku.
Kotoko playmaker Fabio Gama then displayed quality, after a deadly combination between him and Dickson Afoakwa found Joseph Adomako, but the forward’s effort went wide.
After the break, the turns changed as Al Hilal mounted pressure on the porcupine warriors forcing Christopher Nettey to score an own goal
Gaffer Prosper Ogum gave the new players the opportunity to showcase their capabilities as they made their friendly debut.
Kotoko is set to play another friendly before returning back to start the 2021/22 campaign.
