Guinea’s military leader, Colonel Mahamady Doumbouya has responded to a call by ECOWAS Heads of States, by stating that he is Accountable only to the Guinean people but Not ECOWAS.
According to information reaching Ghana Africa News, the Pan-Africa Body delegation which was led by Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-addo, ordered Colonel Mahamady Doumbouya to hand over power back to out-seated President, Alpha Condé.
Despite threats of sanctions from the West Africa countries and other external institutions and agencies, Doumbouya has made it clear that he is not ready to hand over power back to Alpha Condé.
Also, sources to Ghana Africa News have revealed that, Guinea’s junta leader Col. Mamady Doumbouya has dismissed the idea of letting deposed President Alpha Conde leave the country after a meeting with regional bloc ECOWAS on Friday.
The Guinean junta, which overthrew Conde on September 5, said it will not cave to any ECOWAS demands.
Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, currently the chair of ECOWAS, and Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara visited Doumbouya on Friday with the hope of leaving with Conde, but it was impossible.
