The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement, to caution the general public, on the current trends of mobile money frauds in Ghana.
According to a press release sent to Ghana Africa News, the Police have noticed s common type of mobile money fraud and deemed it necessary to warn the public in other for steps to be taken to prevent falling victims.
In the statement signed by Head of Public Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Effia Tenge, it was explained that, even though there may be more modes of mobile money fraud, the Police has noted more reported cases in a particular mode of operation.
Firstly, the fraudsters send an SMS notification to the phone of the victim, indicating that he/she has been credited with cash, for winning a promotion.
After that the other mode and activities continues.

The Police therefore advised all Mobile Money vendors to ensure that they collect money before initiating a mobile money transfer.
