The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin, has sent a strong warning to Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, Minister of Health, not to ever disrespect parliament again, or he will face the consequences.
During the proceedings of Parliament, as monitored by Ghana Africa News, on Monday, 29th March, 2021, Hon. Kwaku Manu was expected to present a report to parliament, but unfortunately failed to appear before the house without any reason.
According to the majority side of Parliament, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu traveled to Kumasi, but unfortunately he is not yet back even though he has informed them that he is on his way.
Well, this situation did not go down well with the Speaker, and got angry over the absence. According to the Speaker, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has disrespected parliament for absenting himself without prior notice. ” I give the Health Minister 2hrs to appear before the house or face the consequences”, he fumes.
Expressing his discontent about the issue, he said he is not going to tolerate such act in Parliament and will make sure that, such act are duly punished.
After a long argument and justification by the Majority side, the Speaker allowed the Minister of Employment and Labour Relation to present the report on behalf of the Health Minister. “This is going to be the last to permit such absent and disrespectful, and anyone who engage in such a disrespectful act won’t go free”, he warned.
For now, the reason why, Hon Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, was absent is not known.
