The dead bodies of two primary 6 pupils have been discovered in the Newmont Dam in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The deceased students have since been identified as David Opoku who is 13 years old and 14-year old Thomas Opoku, reportedly drowned in the Newmont Dam at Ahafo Tutuka after they had gone swimming.

The Asutifi North and South District Police Commander, DSP Paul Ankan, speaking to local media said that “The information that reached the police was that two boys had drowned in a dam”.
“Based on the information, police rushed to the scene and realized that the apparel and slippers of the victims were at the bank of the dam. The police sought the services of the local divers and the bodies of the children were retrieved”.
The bodies of the deceased pupils have been deposited at the morgue for preservation and awaiting autopsy.
Police at Ahafo Kenyasi have since invited management of Newmont Ghana, Ahafo Mine, to assist with investigations into the matter.
